Did you know that 28% of people never clean sex toys despite the possibility of contracting yeast infections, bacteria buildups, and STI’s? This applies to BOTH men and women!

Even if you are cleaning your toys regularly, are you doing it properly? Different materials harbor germs in different ways, so despite your best cleaning effort you may have all sorts of harmful bacteria in your toys!

Adult toys are made of various materials such as:

1. PVC, TPE, and Jelly Rubber

2. Silicone

3. Glass

4. Stainless Steel

5. ABS plastic

The first and most important step is to understand what your toys are made of so you can clean them the right way!

If you have a motorized electronic toy you should first find out if it is waterproof. Battery operated toys tend to not be waterproof because of the ability to expose the batteries to water. Just Google, read your manual, or call the manufacturer to find out if your electronic toy is non-waterproof, splashproof, or if it is fully submergible.

How to Clean Your Toys

If your toy uses batteries: Take the batteries out, and re-close the compartment. Clean it with a soapy washcloth or a good anti-bacterial toy cleaner, and then wipe it down with a wet, soap-free washcloth. Open the battery port back up and let it air-dry with the compartment open.

If your toy is USB rechargeable: Check the product to see if it's water submersible or splashproof. If so, then grab your favorite toy cleaner and spray thoroughly over the toy and use a dry washcloth or soft cloth to wipe clean. A rechargeable toy not labeled as waterproof, use a soft cloth to wash the toy being careful to avoid the charging port. Make sure any magnetic charger connections are thoroughly cleaned off as well to make sure the connection stays strong with time and so you battery can always read when it has been plugged in.

**If you toy has interchangeable parts, like the “mouth” on an air pulse toy, then make sure you scrub those separately.

100% silicone toys can also be boiled in hot water for 3-5 minutes to sanitize them. This method is great for stainless steel or glass toys (not crystal).

Let toys dry completely before storing away or using. Be sure to repeat these cleaning steps BEFORE and AFTER each use.
